The Brand development presentation from Momentum really made us think.

The Momentum sales system has been a huge asset to Slough Community Leisure, we now have a solid structure to our sales process, which has enhanced the sales teams performance. Sales staff confidence has increased and the closing rate for gym membership sales has improved.
Every sales lead is followed up and processed through the system, which in the past a majority would have been lost.
The training days and monthly workshops have proved beneficial to all staff, from receptionists to Fitness consultants. One of our sites has increased sales by 45% compared to this time last year.

Since introducing the SMART system from Momentum Business Development in November 2008 our member retention has improved significantly.
We have had some great feedback from our members who really appreciate the personal support they receive from their nominated Fitness Instructor. Our staff like the system as their job role is now much more structured and rewarding than before.
We estimate that if our attrition trend had continued at previous levels we would now have 280 fewer members than we actually have. The financial implications of that don?t bear thinking about!
I am convinced that the SMART system has made a significant contribution to our improved member retention and as a by-product to our fitness team morale.

On Monday 7th June I attended some Sales training with Nikki from Momentum. This was the first type of sales training I had done as in the past I have avoided the sales part of the Health club industry as I thought it was pushy process and very unrewarding!
Nikki explained all about touring a potential member, understanding what that person would like to see in the Health Club, handling any objectives the client had and then closing a sale with that person. I felt much more relaxed about the whole sales process at the end of the training; Nikki had given me the confidence to tackle sales in the future. In fact I am looking forward to my first tour with a potential new member!
